HIV Prevention, BCP, Life Skills Education
HIV Prevention
We use peer education models to equip young people with accurate information on HIV prevention, abstinence, healthy relationships and the prevention of teenage pregnancies. By empowering peer educators to influence their fellow youth, we create supportive environments where young people can learn from one another, challenge harmful behaviours and adopt healthier lifestyles.
Life Skills
A two days programme that empowers youths in practical day-to-day skills that enable them to live more resourceful and healthy lives. The programme is to be given to every group after each BCP. The method used is a participatory learning and action technique. The life skills programme can be adjusted to suit different age groups and backgrounds. The programme deepens the understanding of a number of issues raised in the Education for Life Programme thus continuing to support the initiated behaviours.
Adventure Unlimited (AU)
The Adventure Unlimited (AU) is a behaviour formation programme, which consists of nine lessons. These lessons are given to children between 9 and 14 years old over a period of nine weeks (depending on the time availed). This age is very critical because young people go through a lot of physical and emotional changes. AU seeks to help children form good behaviours and help them with the problems they face as they grow.
Education for Life (BCP)
A Behaviour Change Process (BCP) programme is a group-counselling programme in which the facilitator finds out personal and group norms, behaviours and attitudes. After this the group is taken through a process of looking at the consequences of the present attitudes and behaviours. The facilitator then guides the participants into looking at alternative behaviours and helpful attitudes without overlooking the obstacles that the new behaviour is going to bring. The workshop also gives skills that are going to help participants overcome the obstacles that they will meet.
The BCP does not assume that everyone needs to change. It recognises that in some cases behaviour maintenance is needed. The BCP is the main thrust of YAZ activities.

Our Programmes
Mental Health Awareness and Counselling
Mental Health Awareness
We raise awareness about mental health through community outreach, school programmes, media and public education. Our initiatives help reduce stigma, promote mental wellbeing and encourage individuals to seek help early. We educate young people, parents and communities on common mental health challenges, stress management, emotional resilience and the importance of creating supportive environments.
Counselling and Psychosocial Support
We provide counselling and psychosocial support services to children, young people, and families facing emotional, psychological and social challenges. Through individual and group counselling, referrals and community-based support, we help individuals build resilience, improve their mental wellbeing and navigate life's challenges. We also connect those requiring specialized care with appropriate mental health professionals and support services to ensure they receive the assistance they need.

Child Safeguarding and Girl Child Empowerment
Child Safeguarding Policy Training and Implementation
We support schools, communities, churches and partner organizations in developing, strengthening and implementing child safeguarding policies that create safe and protective environments for children. Our training equips teachers, caregivers, volunteers and community leaders with the knowledge and skills to prevent, identify and respond to child abuse, neglect, exploitation and violence. We also educate stakeholders on the Anti-Gender-Based Violence Act and the Children's Code Act, promoting awareness of children's rights, reporting procedures and the legal frameworks that safeguard children from abuse and exploitation.
Safe Spaces and Psychosocial Support
We establish safe spaces where children and young people can access emotional support, mentorship and psychosocial services in a secure and nurturing environment. These spaces promote healing, resilience, confidence and personal development while providing referrals to appropriate protection and support services when needed.
Re-entry Support for Teen Mothers and Menstrual Hygiene Management
We support adolescent mothers in returning to school by promoting education re-entry, mentorship and life skills development. Through menstrual hygiene education and the provision of reusable menstrual hygiene kits, we help girls manage their menstrual health with dignity, reduce school absenteeism and create an enabling environment that empowers them to continue their education and achieve their full potential.

Youth Entrepreneurship and Business Simulation Games
Business Skills Training and Financial Literacy
A highly interactive training for micro entrepreneurs and for everyone who is interested to learn in practice how the success and sustainability of start-ups and small businesses can be improved. It is a 4-day management game for micro-entrepreneurs to teach them the basics of entrepreneurship skills. It is meant for people who are already owning or intending to start a MSME (Micro, Small or Medium Enterprise). The game follows an illustrative and effective practical learning approach which enables participants to easily understand business processes and get accustomed with the necessary skills. The participants take on the role of a manager of a small fruit store. During the training, they form teams and encounter different events like growth potentials, challenges as the employer, business threats and market opportunities. Playfully, the participants gain sharper insights into basic business administration procedures. They discover how to manage their enterprise more competently.
Farmers Simulation Games
The Farmers Business Game is a highly interactive training for small-holder farmers, emerging farmers and agricultural entrepreneurs who want to improve their skills for a successful and sustainable farm management. The overall objective of the Farmers Business Game is to promote financial literacy and raise awareness for the importance of financial planning, applying an experience-based approach.
Savings Games
The Savings Game is a highly interactive training tool for private households, young people and small family businesses that wish to learn the art of efficient family budget management and savings mobilization. In the haptic board simulation Savings Game, participants take part in a three-round learning experience that will prove to be both challenging and rewarding. They form teams and manage a family’s budget. In teams, the participants of this haptic Savings Game simulate a family of five, jointly managing their household budget. Each family team attempts to use its budget as far-seeing and efficiently as possible to achieve a predetermined family goal. The more successful and economical a family team is, the higher the score on the scale of living quality. The winner is the team, which has achieved the family goal and has reached the highest quality-of-life score. Thus, the participants become more aware of their financial well-being, manage the cost of living effectively, and acquire strategies to build wealth through consistent saving and strategic investment.

GBV Prevention and Gender Equality
Gender Equality Gender-Based Violence (GBV) Prevention
We educate and sensitize communities and Youth Alive School Clubs on the prevention of Gender-Based Violence (GBV). Through interactive awareness sessions, participants learn how to recognize the different forms of abuse, identify warning signs, understand their rights, and respond appropriately to cases of violence. We also provide information on safe reporting channels, available support services, and the provisions of the Anti-Gender-Based Violence Act, empowering individuals to report abuse, seek protection, and contribute to creating safer homes, schools, and communities.
Youth Alive School Clubs
We establish and support Youth Alive schools clubs to empower learners with knowledge on gender equality, human rights, leadership and healthy attitudes. The clubs provide a safe space for young people to discuss issues affecting their wellbeing, build confidence and become advocates for positive change within their schools and communities.
Male Involvement Campaigns
We actively engage boys and men as champions of gender equality through awareness campaigns, community dialogues, and positive masculinity initiatives. Our parenting skills training programmes strengthen communication between parents and children, promote shared responsibility within families, and foster healthier relationships built on trust, respect and mutual understanding.
The programme also raises awareness on the prevention of Gender-Based Violence (GBV), equipping participants with the knowledge to recognize, prevent and respond to abuse. We connect survivors of violence to appropriate support services, including GBV helplines, psychosocial counselling, victim support units and legal assistance. By working closely with relevant stakeholders, we facilitate referrals and case escalation through the justice system from police reporting to court proceedings ensuring survivors can access protection, justice and comprehensive support.
Advocacy to Shift Harmful Social Norms
We work with communities, traditional leaders, schools, and other stakeholders to challenge harmful social and cultural norms that perpetuate gender inequality and violence. Through advocacy, public awareness campaigns, and community engagement, we promote inclusive attitudes, equal opportunities, and a culture of respect where everyone can live free from discrimination and violence.

Menstrual Hygiene and (SRH)

Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH) Education
We provide age-appropriate Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH) education that equips young people with the knowledge and life skills needed to make informed decisions. Our sessions promote healthy attitudes and responsible behaviours by covering topics such as puberty, menstrual health, HIV and STI prevention, teenage pregnancy prevention, consent, gender equality and access to youth-friendly health services.
